Infant/Toddler Teacher
This position supports the work of Rosemount Center, an early childhood education and family support center (primarily Early Head Start/Head Start) and reports to the Head Start Program Director with accountability to program area managers and administrators. It is for one of the Center's Infant/Toddler classrooms.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Implement Rosemount's curriculum - the "Creative Curriculum" - in the classroom and develop appropriate weekly lesson plans.
2. Conduct developmental screenings on all children within 45 days of enrollment.
3. Provide activities to support families in their role as caregivers and educators.
4. Provide completed Individual Child Profile quarterly.
5. Ensure the health and safety of the children in the classroom and outdoors, including field trips.
6. Maintain equipment and materials.
7. Understand and implement Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC requirements, and DC Child Care Licensing requirements.
8. Conduct a minimum of two (2) home visits per year for each child in the classroom.
9. Conduct a minimum of three (3)) parent conferences per year for each child in the classroom.
10. Refer families to the appropriate resources at Rosemount as needed.
11. Encourage parent involvement in their child's development.
12. Attend at least 30 hours of trainings per school year.
13. Complete all USDA and attendance reports.
14. Maintain working portfolio files on all children.
Qualifications
1. BA degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or related field.
2. One to two years experience working with infants/toddlers/preschool children preferred.
- Able to problem solve, handle crises, and work with families and children of various cultures from low-income backgrounds.
- Prompt, dependable, and good communication skills are essential.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not necessary.
Note: The selected applicant must be legally eligible to work in the United States. This position is funded by a federal grant and employees must successfully complete medical testing annually and complete an initial criminal background check prior to employment.
