Rosemount Program Director Featured on National Early Head Start Webinar

Click here to see Rosemount Center's Program Director, Ms. Loudell Robb, speak about Rosemount Center at the National Early Head Start webinar (fast forward to 31:30). Ms. Robb takes a closer look at our unique home-based program and explains our strength-based approach to positively impacting families in Washington, DC.

"We assess families by evaluating their needs, and evaluating their strengths. We want parents to feel valuable--they are their children’s first teachers. They know what they’re doing, and we want them to take charge. That’s the approach that we take...We are there to empower parents, to make them self-sufficient. We go in and build upon the strengths that are there, and that has made our program successful."

"Home visitors are there to help parents bridge those gaps into a new society that they’re not used to. Relationship is key. We want to meet parents where they are and gradually remove them from things that we know are not conducive to the well-being of children. We’re not there to change mom and dad, but with the right examples and right coaching and training, they will figure out on their own that there is another alternative to what they’re doing.”
